A green school
Energy-efficiency was the key consideration in the construction of a new school building in Levallois-Perret, northwest of Paris. ETAP contributed with efficient UT luminaires with daylight-dependent control.
The school building accommodates the Buffon school group, a kindergarten and primary school with a total of some 385 pupils. The key term here is sustainability, with cold-heat storage, photovoltaic panels and a living roof. A 15-metre greenhouse between both schools emphasises the green nature of this building, which was awarded an HQE certificate (High Environmental Quality).
Since lighting is one of the greatest energy users, special attention was paid to it. The technical consultancy wanted luminaires with the lowest possible specific power, which still provided maximum lighting comfort. The choice was made for ETAP's UT recessed luminaires, in the classrooms, as well as in relaxation rooms and in the sleeping rooms for the youngest children. Extra energy is saved by the ELS sensors in the luminaires near the windows. At times of sufficient daylight, they dim the luminaires to the desired illuminance.
