Light, space, quietThe renovation of the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Tilburg also included the upgrading of the lighting system. The architect opted for ETAP’s stylish, energy-efficient solutions.
The St. Elisabeth Hospital was created in 1827. It moved to its current location in 1982. Today, 28 years later, the building is being renovated and adapted to current needs.One of the renovations involved the ‘main aisle’, the central connecting corridor of the hospital. The prime aim of architect Liesbeth Wesseling of a/d amstel architecten was to obtain plenty of light using stylish luminaires; the hospital wanted an energy and maintenance friendly solution. ETAP provided the answers.
The main aisle of the hospital was to be arranged as a bright, light and well laid out space, ideally using luminaires that emit a warm light. Liesbeth Wesseling: “We aimed for a clean and neat appearance, a non-visible light source, soft light creating a spacious feel, and low-energy light sources and ballasts. EBIND – a softlight luminaire with perforated lamp shielding – met all these requirements.” To smoothly guide visitors along the main aisle and the intersections, an extra light source was indicated; DALLE recessed luminaires were perfect for this purpose.
Another major project at the hospital is the renovation of all nursing departments. Here, too, the EBIND luminaires provide atmospheric lighting in the corridors.
