Case study: Caserne Champerret

Reliable lighting, round-the-clock

The operations centre of the Paris fire brigade is Europe's most important emergency call centre. Since the centre moved to the historic site of the Champerret station, the operators have been illuminated by ETAP.

The historic Champerret station is an impressive site in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, just a stone's throw from the Porte Champerret. The station's nerve centre, its operations centre, however, is located underground. Here operators handle an average of 4,000 calls per day, which can run up to 25,000 calls during crisis situations. In rooms fitted with the latest technology, data and photos of the site of a fire or accident are projected onto multimedia screens. Often even before the response teams arrive on site, the operators in the station have a clear picture of the situation and are able to provide the correct instructions.
The call centre is manned 24/7, 365 days a year, which is why reliability and comfort were the most critical criteria the lighting had to satisfy. ETAP's R8 luminaires spread a pleasant, diffuse light. Thanks to the HaloOptics diffusers barely any light is wasted. Furthermore in terms of architecture, the R8 with its cylindrical shape seamlessly fits into the acoustic system's white pipes.
